The presentation will look at the significance between a certification and a post graduate degree using viewpoints such as the importance of each, why chose one over the other, who recognizes them, what leverage they provide, and finally what level of education is right for an individual.
About the Speaker
Mike Salvetti is the Manager of Logistics Engineering at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi who oversees the execution of multiple Department of Defense contracts that deal with reliability, maintainability, and life cycle cost of ships. He has held numerous management and staff positions with over 24 years logistics experience with companies such as; Ryder Transportation, General Electric, Leaseway Transportation, UPS, and Edinger/Rhine Trucking.
He currently teaches at the Maritime Training Academy in the field of Marine Engineering and instructs a 16 week “Logistics as a Life Cycle Discipline Course” that is accessible worldwide. He is a Mississippi Emergency Management Agency Reservist, a FEMA Certified Disaster Logistician and serves on the Advisory Committee at the Center for Logistics, Trade, and Transportation at the University of Southern Mississippi. Currently he is also serving as the Society of Logistics Engineers (SOLE) Gulf Coast Chapter Chairman and recently was awarded a SOLE Field Award for Logistics Education.
