Welcome to summer on the Mississippi Gulf Coast! It’s hot and rainy, but that doesn’t slow us down! In fact, we’re gearing up for our biggest chapter activities of the year and we need your involvement. Please note that we will not have a chapter meeting in July, but...we are making plans now to hold our Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday August 21st. Once again, we will hold elections at the August Annual Membership Meeting for the 2019 Board of Directors. Your vote matters in the direction and leadership of our growing chapter, and we’re asking all members to join us at the August meeting and vote. Here’s the nomination and voting process:
Nominations for each of the Board of Director seats below are NOW OPEN and will remain open until 11:59pm CDT on Friday, August 3rd.
You may nominate someone else or yourself. If you nominate someone else, please be sure they are willing to perform the role for the 2019 calendar year. Please note that the President seat is automatically filled by the prior year’s Vice President and is not up for election. The chapter must have three positions filled to keep our chapter status: President, Secretary and Vice President of Finance. The other Board seats are not required to be filled but are very helpful to keep the chapter moving forward and to share the efforts of running the chapter. Board seats eligible to be filled for 2019 include:
- Vice President / President Elect
- Vice President of Finance
- Vice President of Professional Development
- Vice President of Governance and Policy
- Vice President of Membership
- Vice President of Volunteers
- Vice President of Marketing

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please visit the Board of Directors page on our website and select Nominations Committee to submit your nomination. You have until 11:59pm CDT on Friday, August 3rd to submit your nomination. Nominations received after this time will not be considered. During the week of July 30 – August 4, nominees will be asked to provide a picture and brief biography explaining their qualifications and what they hope to offer the chapter through their leadership. By 11:59pm CDT on Monday August 6th, the names and short biographies of each nominated person will be posted on our website. They will also be provided at the annual meeting when you vote.
Register today for the Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday August 21st where you will be asked to submit a ballot to cast your votes for the open Board seats. You must be present to vote! Only one ballot per member will be accepted. The new 2019 Board members will be announced in the September newsletter and introduced at the September chapter meeting.
