Following Hurricane Katrina, three artists transformed severely damaged trees into beautiful works of art. There are now ~50 sculptures across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. (Read more about these amazing pieces of art that are so important to our community!) At our April dinner meeting, Mr. Randall Shaw (2016 President and current VP of Membership) presented the “Katrina Sculptures Project” community project. PMI MGC is interested in using our discipline to plan and execute a project to support the care and preservation of these Katrina wood sculptures, and we need your help!
Our chapter’s strategic objectives include promoting project management as a discipline and raise greater awareness about our chapter. Undertaking a project to revitalize the Katrina Sculptures presents an opportunity for us to combine both objectives in scalable manner while giving back to our community. There will be both short-term and long-term commitments available for anyone interested in joining this exciting community give-back project, and volunteer PDUs will be available.
