Happy March, Mississippi Gulf Coast! It’s almost time to “spring forward” as we bask in an extra hour of daylight! Our chapter continues to grow, and we are eager to announce some upcoming events. Check out the event listing on our website to see what’s next!
Summary of February Events
February Dinner Meeting: Many thanks to Jennifer Williams, our President-Elect and Director of Project Management at Keesler Federal Credit Union for the exceptional presentation on “Understanding Agile Concepts, Part-1: Scrum for Pigs and Chickens.” It was a great experience for those attending to gain an understanding of key Agile concepts, while diving deeper into the mechanics of Scrum. To show that Scrum isn't just for technology and development teams, we tied Scrum to Santa! Attendance was high, and we hope to see as many people at our March meeting when Jennifer presents Part-2 of her series.
Project Management Professional Event: On February 8, 2018, Matt Erhardt, John Ascherl, Lucas Applewhite and Courage Klutse volunteered to conduct our first project management event at the Keesler Air Force Base’s Professional Development Center in Biloxi, MS. This military outreach event was aimed at educating the local military community about the project management profession and PMI certification opportunities. This was our first project management event this year, and we look forward to organizing more events through our partnership with staff at the Professional Development Center.
Coming in March
March Dinner Meeting: Join us for our March dinner meeting on Wednesday March 21st as we hear the second of a 2-part series presentation, “Understanding Agile Concepts, Part 2: Kanban for Efficiency,” from our own President-Elect Jennifer Williams, PMP, CSM, Director of Project Management at Keesler Federal Credit Union. In this presentation, Jennifer will review how to use the Kanban framework to make every day work more efficient. Please register today and join us on Mar 21, 2018 at the Great Southern Club at 5:30 pm. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!
We asked you, and we're listening! Many of you indicated in recent surveys that Thursday meetings might fit your schedule better so you could attend dinner meetings. In effort to serve your needs and be more accessible to you, we're moving the dinner meetings in April, May and June to be on the 3rd Thursday of those months, rather than our usual 3rd Wednesday. Those meetings will still be held at the Great Southern Club at our usual times--upcoming newsletters and the event postings will remind you of this schedule change. We hope this change allows more of you to attend and continue strengthening this growing network. We have great experience and talent across our membership, and we're excited to have you share that with your fellow members!
